Maxi Mice is our toddler and preschooler music and movement class. It lasts for 45 minutes of fun, since by this age their stimulation and energy can last a little longer. You may have noticed.

Maxi Mice is our toddler and preschooler music and movement class. Besides the wide variety of instruments suited to the songs, there’s lots of actions, tickling, raspberries, clapping and jumping, as well as more calming bubbles and fairy lights and a touch of signing.
There is plenty of variety from week to week to give your little a wide range of musical play. This is balanced with the loose structure and familiarity that children benefit from. We always sing the same opening and closing songs with varying silly songs and nursery rhymes in the middle. We like to get the bubbles out every week and some swathe of fabric or parachute to wobble or hide under. In Maxi Mice, we focus on songs suited to this older audience and lots of movement. Be prepared to join in with the actions and rock out with them. And don’t forget to bring your air guitars!
As well as having lots of fun and exploring music and movement, there are tricks to help the children start to pick up on different rhythms, tempos and moods. Similarly there are ways to help them in their physical and motor skill development. It might not always be obvious, but we build in carefully considered movement elements. For example, we practice crossing the midline which aids physical and brain development. This helps in skills such as writing, visual tracking and putting on shoes.
In time they will learn how different songs make them feel. It’s amazing to watch little ones grow to discern whether a song makes them feel calm, or silly, or “rocking”. Then, as they grow, you’ll see them learn to choose songs to suit their moods.
Our preschoolers and toddler music and movement classes don’t stop there though! We integrate all sorts of educational learning opportunities through the different weekly themes because they love it!
The grown ups will enjoy the Maxi Mice music too – we don’t think children need to have bad taste in music. We’ve made music the whole family can enjoy across a range of genres to introduce little ones to its variety. Who knows, your little one might surprise you with a love of rock, or funk, or country music!

My daughter and I both had so much fun every time we went to Hickory Dickory Rock. There were so many unique activities, props, and fun surprises each week. Ellie’s positive energy is infectious, and she does a great job getting everyone involved to the level they’re comfortable with. My daughter really grew in confidence through attending this class.
