A mixed age group for 0-4’s where we enjoy the best of both from Mini and Maxi groups. The content follows the Maxi class with adaptations for the Mini’s in the room to cover the tricks and developmental benefits for both the age groups, so it’s suitable for all, but also perfect for siblings or those who just prefer a more chilled vibe! (Or it may just be an easier time to get everyone up and out of the house…!).

Alongside a range of varied instruments and awesome music, there’s lots of sensory, tickling, raspberries, clapping, cuddles, movement and Makaton signing to aid communication skills, as well as more calming bubbles and fairy lights, and the chance to bond with your little one(s), as well as make friends. Be prepared to join in with the actions and rock out with them – and don’t forget to bring your air guitars!

Description

There will be plenty of variety from week to week to make sure your little one gets a wide range of musical play. This is balanced with the loose structure that children benefit from. We will always sing the same opening and closing songs with varying silly songs and nursery rhymes in the middle. We like to get the bubbles out every week and some swathe of fabric or parachute to wobble or hide under.

In Mixi Mice, we cover the tricks and developmental benefits for both the Maxi and Mini aged little ones. As well as having lots of fun and exploring music, there are tricks to help the Maxi-aged children start to pick up on different rhythms, tempos and moods and similarly to help them in their physical and motor skill development through the carefully considered movement elements, such as crossing the midline which aids physical and brain development in skills such as writing, visual tracking and putting on shoes.

For the Mini’s in the room we incorporate movement and actions carefully considered to develop motor skills, communication, coordination and imagination. We use activities and key-word signing to aid communication skills (and of course singing is also known to aid language development).

Our classes give you precious bonding time with your little one(s) – activities aimed for you to partake with your little one, make memories and have fun together. And of course, (and very importantly): socialising for both you and your little one. I love how friendly and inclusive our classes are and watching friendships grow amongst the grown ups as well as the little ones brings such joy.

The grown ups enjoy the Mixi Mice music as much as the kids too – we don’t think children need to have bad taste in music. We’ve tried to make music for the whole family to enjoy across a range of musical genres to introduce little ones to the variety out there. Who knows, your little one might surprise you with a love of rock, or funk, or country music!
