Our older group for 15months – 4 years with lots of instruments, props, activities and play across a range of musical styles to suit this lively age group. Besides the wide variety of instruments and songs, there are lots of actions, tickling, raspberries, fabrics and parachutes, clapping and jumping, as well as more calming bubbles and fairy lights and a touch of signing. Maxi is 45 minutes of fun, since at this age their stimulation and energy can last a little longer. You may have noticed… Be prepared to join in with the actions and rock out with them – and don’t forget to bring your air guitars!

Description
There will be plenty of variety from week to week to make sure your little one gets a wide range of musical play. This is balanced with the loose structure that children benefit from. We will always sing the same opening and closing songs with varying silly songs and nursery rhymes in the middle. We like to get the bubbles out every week and some swathe of fabric or parachute to wobble or hide under. In Maxi Mice, we focus on songs suited to this older audience and lots of movement. As well as having lots of fun and exploring music, there are tricks to help the children start to pick up on different rhythms, tempos and moods and similarly to help them in their physical and motor skill development through the carefully considered movement elements, such as crossing the midline which aids physical and brain development in skills such as writing, visual tracking and putting on shoes. In time they will learn how different songs make them feel. It is amazing to watch little ones grow to discern whether a song makes them feel calm, or silly, or “rocking”, then as they grow they learn to choose songs to suit their moods. The grown ups will enjoy the Maxi Mice music too – we don’t think children need to have bad taste in music. We’ve tried to make music for the whole family to enjoy across a range of musical genres to introduce little ones to the variety out there. Who knows, your little one might surprise you with a love of rock, or funk, or country music!
